The life in Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai
People said that the three most livable cities in Asia are Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai. Chan’s family happened to have lived in the three cities in the past ten years. I agree that each city has its unique feature, but you can’t comment without the real experience by living there for at least a year.
We had seen how Hong Kong people turned their smiling faces during their golden period to depressed faces during economic crisis, hopeless faces during SAS time and confused faces when they see people from mainland become so filthy rich! Luckily, HK people only lost their money not their mind.
We observed how have Singaporean struggled to stand in their own feet as a tree in the forest of Asia. Good or bad, Singaporean still feel good so far.
We have seen that the new generation of Shanghainess are facing the strongest survival competition ever and thanks God, the words by Confucius sometimes can comfort the young mind.
Don Don summarized about his school life in the three cities yesterday: HLYIS in Hong Kong gave me the creative nature, FMPS in Singapore toughed me up, SHID in Shanghai is just suite my taste.
In HLYI, no one told us what to do and we just played and played and we have to create something interesting from our own mind, however Mrs. Look set a very good English foundation for me by reading loud programme.
In FMPS, I can’t have eye contact with my teachers as they were too strict, all the kids did back counting right before the school nearly end everyday.
In SHID, I felt that we are loved by the teachers and I see my school life be part of my daily excitements.
He concluded by the following:
My dear Ma Ma:
Thank you for the life in Hong Kong; I know what means easy life!
Thank you for taking me to Singapore for two years; I know what means hard life!
Thank you for letting me experiencing Shanghai, I know what means happy life!
