just before going to bed last night I received a FB message from Michelle telling me that her son Phillip had killed himself. Shock and tears followed.
Called her today and spoke with her briefly. Seems he had gotten into trouble and was punished by his parents. Within a couple hours he was found dead by his mom on the bathroom floor with a bullet wound to the head. He left no note.
The horrible pain in her voice was devastating. I proceeded to get hold of my kids and tell them that I love them. Still haven't been able to reach naomi as her cell phone is out of commission.
have had a couple weeks with body aches I'd originally attributed to workout strain or bike crashed. Today I learned I have a vitamin D deficiency. Some of the symptoms include muscle pain, low energy, fatigue and it seems one's vitamin D levels can correlate directly to the ability to lose weight.
Feeling a bit achy after yesterday's crash. That and the fact that we're headed out of town for a few days I have decided to take off exercise til Tuesday to allow time to recuperate.
Regular workout. Day pretty much same as usual until I crashed my bicycle on the ride home and went head first over a picket fence. A bit scraped but nothing serious.
Still haven't managed to get my 30 day picture but since my weight seems frozen regardless of diet and exercise I'm not certain how much discernable change would be visible in a picture.
Hoping to get out on a lunch ride today as it is cool and clear today. Perfect weather for it.
Regular exercise and diet. Clear weather allowed for biking to and from work. Didn't manage a lunch ride but hope to do so tomorrow.
Day of rest
Missed exercise yesterday and today due to busy things. Went off diet on weekend.
Got derailed today. Scott was up early and occupying the living room so I'll be trying to get my workout in after work. Wife not feeling well so had to pack my own lunch.
Bike to work day was today so I rode to the spot they had a booth setup and got a couple of maps, a breakfast bar and a free t-shirt.
despite faltering slightly on the south beach again last night I continue to plow ahead. Frustration seems of late to be my constant companion. Never have I been more convinced that the key to long term success is not giving up regardless of setbacks or plateaus.
Working through with the shoulder issue by modifying how I do the exercises that bring the pain as well as the amount of resistance.
Day 2 of south beach and hoping to stay honest with it this go round as I faltered at week end last week. Have to try and get pics done as I'm curious if there are any visible changes.
Regular diet and exercise.
After taking both Friday and Saturday off the shoulder continues to have not recovered. Started back to exercise and South Beach for another go anyway. Took extra care on any exercises which would impact the shoulder. Am hoping this will allow it to heal and subside.
Took measurements and not at all encouraged by where I am after 30 days effort. Difference between chest and waist measurement is a mere 2". Since I didn't take any measurements at the start I can't speak to whether there has been a noticeable improvement or not but will definitely know when 60 days hits.
Continuing pain in right shoulder ... took day off.
Persistent pain in right shoulder so decided to take a day off the sculpt routine to give it a rest. Am thinking of switching from the bands to dumbells as in the past cable type devices were at the root of such injuries/pains.
Annette in bed with the flu today.
Weight back up 2 pounds this a.m. Beginning to wonder if it is not the quality of the food I'm eating but rather the quantity. May have to devote some time this weekend to doing some research on what further changes to diet I can make to further tweak for success.
Think the south beach is kicking in. Weight 210.8 this morning.
Some shoulder pain in right side so taking it easy on sweat days.
First day of South Beach Phase I was fine until evening. Didn't realize how hungry I'd get in the absence of carbs. Had to pick up the book to see what I could snack on and stay within the plan. It indicates that 8-12 pounds weight loss is possible in the two weeks of that phase. Will play it by ear about doing a 3rd week of it before going to the more flexible phase 2. Weight 212.8 this a.m.
Sweat routine this a.m.
Didn't have the broccoli or celery for snack times today so am using a cup of dry roasted edamame in its place.
Am still thinking a serious tweak to my diet will be the key to greater weight loss.
